Given the huge amount of Rum based events going on in the lead up to this years UK RumFest, there is a high likelihood that if this performance is repeated next year we may have to take a short-term rental in South West London!
THE DUPPY SHARE CARIBBEAN RUM
The Duppies are Caribbean spirits who steal Caribbean rum hopping from island to island, keeping the best for themselves.
The Duppy Share is named after this fairy story (or the story was made for the rum I’m not sure). It’s a twist on the Angel’s Share tale. I was initially pretty disinterested in trying this rum which was released just last year.

The brand takes its name from the spirits of Caribbean folklore known as duppies. It’s an evocative name, adding some romance to the world of rum and creates a harmless back plot for what effectively a good, honest and tasty rum blended from aged distillates sourced from two different Caribbean islands.

One of the rums that captivated my attention at Rumfest 2014 was a new entry: The Duppy Share. Launched this past July, The Duppy Share is an artful combination of three year old, 100% pot still Jamaican rum from the beautiful Worthy Park Estate and the warm, buttery finish of five year old rum from the famed Foursquare Distillery in Barbados.

Worthy Park Estate in Jamaica, Master winner Rum Bar Cream is a mixture of 100% real cream, Rum Bar Rum White Overproof and “secret ingredients”. The expression launched in 2011, and was a firm favourite with select judges, who described it as “rich and full-bodied, with good flavours of rum”.
RHUM FEST AWARDS 2017: THE WINNERS!
This year there were 311 expressions in various categories. For the categories, the first grouping is made in relation to the raw material (Pure Juice or Molasses, Miel de Canne…), then production grouping (blanc, gold, élevé Sous-Bois, ambré, paille). Then further grouped by age as appropriate. This year, the organizers felt it important to consider the sugar content and have further sub-grouped the rums.
